Geoff McLean

Geoff graduated in law from the University of Tasmania in 1968 and was admitted to practise in 1968. He became a partner in the firm in 1969 and operated the business as a sole practitioner from 1971 to 1977.

While Geoff specialises in Commercial and Family Law (including De Facto relationship law), he also works extensively in:

Property law
Unfair dismissal law
Wills, powers of attorney, estate planning and will disputes
Conveyancing
Civil litigation.

In November 2000 Geoff became the first North-West solicitor elected State President of the Family Law Practitioners’ Association of Tasmania. He held the position until July 2002.

Geoff is on the State panel of Child Representatives and is a life member of the Roland Children’s Home.

He was also a foundation director of Advance Burnie, is a long-time board member of the Braddon Business Centre and has been a member of Rotary since 1971.

Geoff has a keen interest in art, he is vice president of the Friends of the Burnie Art Gallery, and a member of the North West Jazz Action and the Burnie Historical Society.

Geoff enjoys watching most sporting events, supporting the local football team (Burnie Dockers), and is an avid supporter of both Essendon in the AFL, and the Wallabies Rugby Union teams.

Married to Helena in 1972, Geoff has an engineer son and a school teacher daughter.
