Leanne gained a Bachelor of Laws with first class honours from the University of Tasmania in 1982 and was admitted to practice in 1983.

Leanne practises in a number of areas of law with an emphasis on:

  • Civil litigation - particularly personal injury claims
  • Motor vehicle accidents
  • Medical negligence
  • Workers compensation
  • Insurance claim law
  • Family law property settlements
  • General court work
  • Will and estate disputes

She was President of the Law Society of Tasmania in 2006 and has been a member of the Council of the Law Society since 2001. She is currently on the Executive of the Law Council of Australia. She is also a member of the Guardianship and Administration Tribunal, on the Tasmanian Cancer Council Board and a director of Advance Burnie.

Leanne is married to Colin McKenzie with two sons and in her spare time enjoys walking, relaxing at Sisters Beach and reading a good book.
